Presented by Jessie Hennen and Christine Utz of Magers & Quinn
Come get your book-mangle on with an afternoon of book art and erasure poetry! We'll bring the old pages and art supplies; you bring the creativity. Two M&Q staff member graduates of the Iowa Writers' Workshop will help you white-out, black-out and highlight, slice and dice old books into new poems and stories. You'll leave with your very own beautiful, weird piece (or pieces) of book art.
This free drop-in event will run from 3-5 pm. Kids are welcome.
Jessie Hennen and Christine Utz are not actually interchangeable, but they are both employees of Magers & Quinn (Jessie runs events, Christine business-to-business) who live in Minneapolis and hold MFAs in fiction from the Iowa Writers' Workshop. They have each taught undergraduates in the Creative Writing department of the University of Iowa, and are recipients of teaching fellowships from the International Institute of Modern Letters in Wellington, New Zealand (Jessie 2015, Christine 2016). They also both really like horses, though that's neither here nor there.
